I finished a dress for Ella yesterday. It was a long, blue ticking stripe maxi dress with ruffles. She wanted to wear it even before the straps were sewn on it. She wore it until it was time for bed. Then happily took it off in favor of her night gown.
This morning I sent her to pick out a dress for school. She casually walked into the dining room where her dresses were hanging over the back of a chair. She looked at them, walked around the table, then came back into the living room. I asked her which dress she wanted to wear. She said "well, they are not beautiful enough for a princess." I replied "you want to wear your blue dress again, don't you?" She said "yes."
So I helped her put her blue maxi dress back on. She then wanted princess hair. I put her bangs in a clippy and her hair in a messy bun slightly on the side. She added a green macaroni necklace and pink tennis shoes to complete the outfit. As she ran off to look at herself in the mirror, she asked "do I look like a princess?" The only response I had as I was trying not to laugh was "yes, you do."
I guess a lost the princess battle.
